DETOURS TO VALLE CRUCIS AROUND HIGHWAY 105 ROAD CONSTRUCTION
“Good things come to those who wait” is an often-quoted proverb, and we believe it’s true. If you are visiting Valle Crucis in the next three years, you may experience a little wait as the Watauga River Bridge is being replaced and Highway 105 is being widened to facilitate better traffic flow. Use the information on this page to plan your route to and from Valle Crucis and the Mast Store. We promise; it’ll be worth the wait.
Construction will take place Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Night closures can take place from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Travel From Mountain City, TN
Travel south on US 421 approximately 18 miles to US 321 North. Turn right and travel approximately 1 mile to Mast Gap Rd. Turn left onto Mast Gap. Travel approximately 2 miles and turn right on NC 194 South at the stop sign. The Original Store in 1 mile on the left. The Annex is 2/10 of a mile farther.
Travel From Blowing Rock
Travel approx. 7 miles on US-321 N to NC-105 S in Boone and turn left. Continue on NC-105 S to 2 miles to NC-150 bypass and turn right. Continue 2 miles to to US-321 N/US-421 N and turn left. Travel on US-321 N/US-421 N for 3.5 miles to US 321 and turn left and travel approximately 1 mile to Mast Gap Rd. Turn left onto Mast Gap. Travel approximately 2 miles and turn right on NC 194 South at the stop sign. The Original Store in 1 mile on the left. The Annex is 2/10 of a mile farther.
Travel From Downtown Boone
Travel north on US 421 approximately 10 miles to US 321 North. Turn left and travel approximately 1 mile to Mast Gap Rd. Turn left onto Mast Gap.
Travel approximately 2 miles and turn right on NC 194 South at the stop sign. The Original Store in 1 mile on the left.
The Annex is 2/10 of a mile farther.
Travel From Banner Elk
Travel 194 North approximately 7 miles to the stop sign in front of Valle Crucis Elementary School and turn left. The Original Store is less than half a mile on the right. For the Annex, Travel 194 North approximately 7 miles to the stop sign at the Valle Crucis Elementary School and turn right. You will immediately see the Annex on the left.
