I have an 8 yr old, 65 lb. boxer collie mix who is a high energy dog. Fireworks & loud noises scare her & it’s getting worse as she gets older. I was happy to see this product with good ingredients & decided to give it a go. I gave my girl 1 treat on July 4th. She was not thrilled with the smell but did eat it. I left for an afternoon party & came back 4 hrs later. My girl was not at the door to greet me. It took several calls before she appeared… walking bowl legged & lifting each paw as though they hurt. I was so alarmed & after a thorough check I realized she was not hurt, but flying high as a kite with a goofy look on her face. I know this can seem funny but at the time it wasn’t. We decided to monitor her & if necessary go to the vet. She was unable to get on the couch or hop on the bed. It took almost 24 hrs for her to be herself again. She did eat food & would drink water during that time.
I gave this 3 stars because this should have had a warning label or something to tell you about possible effects some dogs may get. I was expecting a calm, sleepy dog.
I will use this again to take the edge off her anxiousness, however I will use a 1/4 of the pill. The pills I bought said 12 mg dose & it did not say extra strength as promoted on their site.
If you try it, go for a small dosage first. It seems like a no brainer, but having no experience with these types of products & having a big high energy dog it seemed appropriate.
I have two Spanish water dogs who are petrified of fireworks I hate giving them tranquilizers because it make them so lethargic and groggy These treats are WONDERFUL They were calm and quiet during last nights fireworks and no leftover grogginess this mor
