ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Mast General Store is holding an anniversary celebration of five years in Downtown Roanoke on Saturday, June 21. Mast General Store is proud to have been a part of the beautiful Capital of the Blue Ridge for five years and appreciates all the Roanokers who have made the store feel at home.
Activities on Saturday, June 21, will include sampling of Mast Store Provisioners snacks, candies, and chocolates, along with Poppy Popcorn. Guests can also pickup a FREE bag of freshly popped popcorn ALL DAY.
One of the store’s local partners, Angels of Assisi, is joining Mast Store in its celebration with an in-store adoption event. Maybe you’ll meet your new fur-ever best friend while you’re downtown.
As a special thank you for Mast Store and Downtown Roanoke supporters, each guest who joins us for the anniversary event on June 21 will receive one raffle ticket to be entered in a drawing for a Mast Store gift card.
“It’s been an amazing ride the last five years! We were one week away from opening the doors when COVID-19 shut everything down,” recalls Roanoke Mast Store General Manager Olivia King. “We had to send home all the new hires we’d spent weeks training and getting to know. Luckily, when we could open the doors weeks later, all but two staff members came back to work at Mast. The staff persevered and made our store a success from the start.”
An important series of events that King also notes is the continued development of Downtown Roanoke. Following a period characterized by uncertainty and business closures, she’s recently witnessed a Roanoke Renaissance.
“The growth we have seen in our downtown the past five years validates Mast’s choice to open a store in Roanoke. New shops, breweries, and restaurants have made Downtown Roanoke home, and the locals and tourists alike take advantage of all Roanoke has to offer,” King said.
She continued, “There are concerts, festivals, and special events downtown throughout the year. We love getting to know the locals and making new friends with the tourists who are discovering Roanoke – some for the very first time!”
On behalf of the staff, King invites everyone in the area to drop by the Roanoke Mast Store any time on Tuesday, June 17, the store’s actual door-opening date, to mark that special day from 2020 with a FREE bag of fresh, hot popcorn and to return on Saturday, June 21, for an even bigger celebration.
“We love treating our guests to a memorable experience any time they visit, especially when we host a party,” King said. “From pet adoption events to round-ups for our neighboring non-profit partners, this city is special to us and we’re fortunate to play a role in our community.”
To put the Mast Store’s five years in Roanoke into perspective, King added, “It’s been a pleasure to experience how people in Roanoke care for each other.”
