ASHEVILLE, NC – Mast General Store will honor the upcoming birthday of American music and cultural icon Dolly Parton with a RoundUP 4 a Cause campaign in support of community arts.
Dolly, who’s renowned for decades of unforgettable performances on stage, screen, and in studio, never neglected her roots despite having reached heights familiar to only a few world-famous entertainers. Her legendary career proves that every artist’s journey begins with the resources, training, and encouragement they receive at home.
All Mast Store locations will ask guests to RoundUP to the next dollar, January 12 – 18, in support of partnering local groups who enrich and inspire us, tell stories that connect us and deepen our sense of cultural identity, and, perhaps even, enable the next generation’s “Dolly” to make their way to the big time.
The Asheville Mast Store will RoundUP to benefit the River Arts District Artists (RADA) Foundation. The River Arts District is a flourishing community of artists and creators within Asheville. This area was among the most heavily affected neighborhoods of Asheville. Its residents were displaced and many homes, galleries, and studios there were irreparably damaged.
The RADA Foundation advances the art and livelihoods of professional artists within the district and provides its members with services that include shared working spaces, scholarship opportunities, and technical assistance programs for professionals and emerging artists. Support from RADA continues to help the Rivers Arts District rebuild and reopen for the more than 500 artists who have returned since Helene.
Mast Store’s RoundUP 4 a Cause campaigns have been successful fundraisers for a wide variety of the family- and employee-owned company’s local nonprofit partners. Recent focuses include Hurricane Helene relief as well as children’s food security programs and conservation initiatives.
Support for community-based arts organizations and programming has been a pillar of the Mast Store’s giving under its ownership by the Cooper family since 1980.
“Vibrant communities have vibrant people. Vibrant people are found in the arts,” Faye Cooper, co-founder of the Mast Store, affirmed. The Mast Store believes that an active arts scene is an important component of a thriving community.
All funds raised in support of these local groups during Mast Store’s RoundUP are attributed to the small donations of guests who agree to round their purchase to the next whole dollar. When combined, these pennies, nickels, and dimes go a long way toward making our communities healthier, safer, and more vibrant.
