The Mast General Store is now hiring a full time (32-40 hours) Human Resource Assistant.  The Human Resource Assistant will be responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and will work closely with senior HR managers in supporting the needs of the department.  This position carries out responsibilities in the areas of benefits administration, employee relationships, training, performance management, policy implementation, recruitment and other areas. Must have an interest and willingness to grow within the HR department, previous HR experience required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  This job must be performed on Company property.

Answers the phone for the Human Resource department.

Handles employment application intake and responds to those not hired.

Performs data entry and personnel file maintenance.

Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.

Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions.

Helps to monitor the performance appraisal process.

Oversees the distribution of mandatory notices as required.

Prepares job postings.

Assists in the Exit Interview process.

Responds to reference checks and verification of employment status.

Assists with benefit administration.

Maintains the Employee Handbook and Policy Manual.

Participates in department staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as requested.

Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information.
