The Beatles refrain is true, “I get by with a little help from my friends.” On Saturday, September 10, the Mast Store will be hosting Friends in each of its home communities that have the awesome responsibility of taking care of resources that locals and visitors enjoy every day. At the end of the day, each of our store locations will donate 10% of the day’s sales to support our local conservation partners.

friends-day-palmetto-1.jpgThe Mast Store in Columbia is helping the Palmetto Conservation Foundation to continue its work to enhance the visitor’s experience along the Palmetto Trail and other PCF projects. As the Foundation’s signature project, the Palmetto Trail traverses the state with hiking and biking trails winding through mountain wilderness, forests, towns large and small, over creeks and rivers, and through swamps and marshlands.

With help from the PCF, the Finish the Trail Campaign has seen more than 350 miles of the Palmetto Trail completed across 14 counties.  There’s about 150 trail miles left to be completed to form a continuous ribbon from the mountains to the sea - from Walhalla in Oconee County to Awendaw in Charleston County. This incredible project will conserve more than 20,000 acres through land trusts and other formal agreements with public and private owners.

Come in and visit with the volunteers from the Palmetto Conservation Foundation to find out how you can get more involved or visit their website HERE.
