Few things in life hit their mark like the Columbia Performance Fishing Gear line. These things come about as close to perfect as you can get without actually catching the fish for you.

Since 1996, Columbia Sportswear has been producing and improving on their PFG line and just recently added the long-sleeved Terminal Tackle series of fishing jerseys. Made of lightweight, breathable fabric, this Performance Fishing Gear technical long-sleeved shirt has Omni-Wick technology, which pulls moisture away from the skin, and Omni-Shade technology, which provides UPF 50 for sun protection.

Bahama IIBut the tried-and-true favorite of many anglers has to be the Bahama II, which is available in long-sleeved and short-sleeved versions. Made from OMNI-SHADE®, a lightweight, durable nylon with built-in UV protection, it dries fast and has a mesh-lined cape vent at the back shoulder to keep you cool. The long sleeves easily convert to short sleeves with built-in tab holders.

The Bahama II has plenty of pockets for fly boxes and tippet spools, as well as a utility loop to secure nippers or hemostats. But the breakout feature has always been the hook-and-loop rod holder that allows you to secure your rod when you need to change flies or release a fish while wading. In most cases, you won’t even need a vest.

Terminal Tackle When fishing from a drift boat or flats boat, many anglers prefer a short-sleeved or long-sleeved t-shirt-style fishing jerseys. Columbia has you covered here too (literally) with the Terminal Tackle line. Quick drying, lightweight, and moisture wicking, it has a crew neck, raglan sleeves (no shoulder seams), and UPF 50 providing the ultimate sun protection.

Backcast IIIPerfect for wading or fishing from a boat, The Backcast III Water Shorts by Columbia are made from quick-drying nylon with built-in UPF 50 sun protection. The elastic waistband with inner drawcord gives a comfy, customized fit. Front slash pockets, a zippered back welt pocket, and side pliers pocket provide ample storage space for small items. The interior mesh brief dries ultra-fast.

Bahama VentNewer to the PFG series is Columbia’s Bahama Vent line of footwear. Available in both slip-on and lace up. A canvas/leather upper coupled with Blood 'n Guts water and stain-resistant technology make cleaning a breeze after a long day of fishing. These boat shoes feature a cushioned Techlite midsole, vent/drainage midsole ports, and a durable Omni-Grip outsole with razor siping, which provides stability and traction on wet terrain.

The vent drainage in the mid-sole really moves water out of the shoe, and the outsole stays grippy on boat decks even when completely drenched. Both the lace-up and slip-on versions are great knock around shoes for whatever your summer has in store.

So, gear up with Columbia PFG to remain comfortable for a day of fishing, sightseeing or back-yard grilling. You’ll be cool and comfortable all summer.
