General stores have always been there for their communities. Now, we need everyone to be there for all.

Even in a time of social distancing, we can engage on a human level to stay connected, healthy, and vibrant. Here are a few things to consider:

  • If you're healthy and have time, consider donating it! Local food security agencies and homeless shelters need your help.

  • If you have a favorite restaurant or shop, purchase a gift card to be used later.

  • Give blood. Many of our local communities are hosting blood drives. If you can give - please be sure you're healthy - go to RedCross.org and enter your zip code to locate a drive near you.

  • Check on your family, your neighbors, and the elderly. Can you pick up groceries for them or just provide a little outside contact and conversation to break up the day. It's important to reach out.

  • Be creative with new ways to express your humanity. Can the kids give a concert from the sidewalk for homebound neighbors? Can your book club meet for discussion on Facetime? There are so many ideas out there - let's hear 'em!

We need to be strong for each other. And, we need to remember that it's a stressful time for everyone. A little extra grace should be a part of every conversation and interaction. We'll get through this together. We look forward to seeing you soon.
