The Roanoke Mast General Store celebrates its five-year anniversary on Tuesday, June 17. While Mast Store’s history in this city is still young, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been eventful. 

“It’s been an amazing ride the last five years! We were one week away from opening the doors when COVID-19 shut everything down,” recalls Roanoke Mast Store General Manager Olivia King. “We had to send home all the new hires we’d spent weeks training and getting to know. Luckily, when we could open the doors weeks later, all but two staff members came back to work at Mast. The staff persevered and made our store a success from the start.” 

An important series of events that Olivia also notes is the continued development of Downtown Roanoke. Following a period characterized by uncertainty and business closures, she’s recently witnessed a Roanoke Renaissance. 

“The growth we have seen in our downtown over the past five years validates Mast’s choice to open a store in Roanoke. New shops, breweries, and restaurants have made Downtown Roanoke home, and the locals and tourists alike take advantage of all Roanoke has to offer,” Olivia said.  

She continued, “There are concerts, festivals, and special events downtown throughout the year. We love getting to know the locals and making new friends with the tourists who are discovering Roanoke – some for the very first time!” 

On behalf of the staff, Olivia invites everyone in the area to drop by the Roanoke Mast Store any time on Tuesday, June 17, to celebrate its fifth anniversary and receive a FREE bag of fresh, hot popcorn!  

“We love treating our guests to a memorable experience any time they visit, especially when we host a party,” Olivia said. “From pet adoption events to round-ups for our neighboring non-profit partners, this city is special to us and we’re fortunate to play a role in our community.”  

To put the Mast Store’s five years in Roanoke into perspective, Olivia added, “It’s been a pleasure to experience how people in Roanoke care for each other.”

The Mast Store in Downtown Roanoke is open daily, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Sunday. Parking is available on the street, in surface lots, and in nearby parking garages.
