Mrs. Stewart's Bluing was invented by Al Stewart, sold door to door in the 1870's. Luther Ford had started a Five and Ten Bazaar west of Pittsburgh but was not very successful. Al and Luther's paths crossed and Luther began to manufacturing the bluing from Al's formula. Luther Ford is still manufacturing the bluing we buy today.
