Keeping Good Company with Toad&Co
- March 12, 2015 |
If you were to conduct a blind touch test of clothing fabrics in the Outdoor Department at Mast General Store, you may find one brand’s “hand feel” to be exceptionally soft. These super soft clothes made from nearly 100% organic cotton, with recycled polyester, and using environment-friendly dyes are the hallmark of our new line, Toad&Co.
Gordon Seabury, the CEO of Toad&Co, came all the way from their headquarters in Santa Barbara, California to share the story of his eco-friendly brand with the Asheville Store associates. The brand design, formerly Horny Toad Activewear, was conceived in a Telluride, Colorado basement back in 1996.
Seabury believes that Toad&Co is a Trail to Tavern brand because it’s designed to meet the needs of both outdoor and city life. “We believe that simple design is the best design. We want to create simple, classic clothing with clean lines that will have longevity. Our clothes aren’t designed to be for just the technical outdoorsperson, they’re meant to be fashionable too,” shares Seabury.
Along with their new brand name launch in February 2015, Toad&Co stands behind their tag line “Keep Good Company.” They achieve this by partnering with groups like Conservation Alliance, 1% For The Planet, and Planet Access Company (PAC). In brief, PAC helps adults with disabilities live their fullest lives. Every purchase from Toad&Co is picked, packed and shipped by the PAC work crew. Very cool.
The next time you visit your local Mast General Store, give the Toad&Co blind touch test a try. You can also take a peek at the items we have available on our online store by clicking HERE. Utilizing clean lines, Toad&Co creates clothing that has longevity both in style and wearability. We think you’ll find that you like what you feel and what you see too. We’re glad to be in good company with the fine folks from Toad&Co.
