Fun & Easy Holiday Crafts with Kids

hoilday-kid-craft-1.jpgYour child’s winter break from school will be here before you know it. This break from often an overfilled schedule provides ample opportunity to enjoy working on creative projects together. One of my family’s favorite holiday traditions is making holiday decorations (that we’ll pull out and enjoy year after year) and crafting sweet homemade gifts for friends and family. Below you’ll find a few ideas that are easy for even the youngest artists. Plus, these crafts are so simple that you’ll probably have most of the materials you need already in your home!

share-the-warmth-2016.jpgAs we scurry about enjoying the cool days of fall, we all know that colder temperatures are on the way, and many of us are ready to face whatever weather the coming season has to offer. Unfortunately, there are some in our communities who aren’t as prepared. The Mast General Store is partnering with Columbia Sportswear for this year's annual Share the Warmth coat, sweater and blanket collection campaign from now until November 30th.

Fall Foliage Primer - October 26, 2016

FFPHeader-Week5-20161026.jpgWeek five of the Fall Foliage Primer still has stunning color in just about every reporting area in North Carolina and South Carolina. That's truly amazing! The highest elevations have reached their peak and are shedding their leaves, which leads to fabulous long-range views. Asheville, Waynesville, and Hendersonville are taking on color and a drive along the Parkway to see what's in front of you and down in the valleys is well worth the time. Greenville and Knoxville are beginning to see more color changes. The weather is going to be GREAT this weekend, so get ready to get outside.

Stanley – Loved By Generations

stanley.jpgThough it’s made great strides in mass appeal over the past decade, the vacuum steel bottle is not a new product. Well over 100 years ago, a Massachusetts man, William Stanley, invented this ingenious bottle. With over 100 patents to his name, Stanley was a major inventor during the golden age of electric development. Thanks to this prolific engineer, we have the pleasure of enjoying our cold drinks staying cold and our hot beverages remaining piping hot due to Stanley’s ingenious all-steel vacuum bottles.
