Firefighter and Mast Sales Associate, Megan LeJarre, Honors Her Fallen Comrades

Firefighter and Mast Sales Associate, Megan LeJarre, Honored Her Fallen Comrades on September 11th

Annex Sales Associate in Valle Crucis, Megan LeJarre, memorialized the tenth anniversary of September 11th in a very special way. Megan is a firefighter with the Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department. She joined fellow firefighters in Mooresville, NC for a Memorial Stair Climb at Lake Norman High School in honor of her fallen comrades who lost their lives on 9/11.

Megan was the only female firefighter at the event and wore her helmet throughout the climb. She was also the only firefighter from the mountains at the memorial and said, “I took great pride in representing our mountain home.” Megan carried a badge with the names and pictures of three of the fallen 343 firefighters during her climb. She recalled, “We climbed to Amazing Grace and at times it just got to all of us and we all shed tears together. Eventhough we all came from different departments, we kept pushing eachother to finish. I kept the firefighters prayer in the back of my mind to keep me motivated.”

Next year Megan wants to bring this important memorial event to the mountains. One of her favorite quotes by Tom Dawson says a great deal about Megan’s commitment: “Being a firefighter is as close as you can get to being a modern-day soldier in your home country.” Please join us in thanking Megan and our other Mast family members who selflessly and courageously serve with Volunteer Fire Departments. We are so proud of who you are and what you do!
