Enjoy Christmas in the High Country
Beginning in Late November
In anticipation of the festive season, folks have made it an annual tradition to visit the High Country in late November to kick off the holidays. Please join us for a High Country Christmas this year! Here a few ways to sample holiday cheer:
Choose and Cut Christmas Trees: People come from all over the southeast to choose and cut their own Christmas tree in Western North Carolina. Many local tree farms offer hot chocolate and other treats while your family selects the perfect tree for your living room. Tree farmers are happy to bale your tree and help you tie it to your vehicle for a safe journey home.
Bring Your Wish List: On Friday, November 25, the most important elf of all, Santa Claus, will arrive at the Original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. He’ll visit with good little boys and girls from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon until 3 p.m. on Sundays. Due to appointments with the elves at the North Pole, Santa will be unavailable on Saturday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 17th.
Santa Paws & Holiday Music: Santa Paws is returning to the Little Red Schoolhouse this year on Saturday, December 3rd. Your pets can have their picture taken with Santa and may even catch the scent of reindeer on the trim of his coat. The Original Mast General Store will also host live Appalachian and bluegrass music most weekends in December. Enjoy cheerful refrains while you browse the store on Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on Sundays from noon until 2 p.m.
Kids Make-and-Take Crafts at the Little Red Schoolhouse: Your kids won’t want to miss this fun opportunity to express themselves creatively. On Saturday, December 10th and Saturday, December 17th, children 12 and younger are invited to participate in Make-and-Take craft activities. Participants are encouraged to bring one new or gently used winter scarf, toboggan, or pair of gloves to donate to the Share the Warmth Coat Drive.
We look forward to celebrating the joyous season in the High Country with you this year!
