Adopt A Golden is visiting the Knoxville Store on Saturday, January 7th from 1p.m. to 3 p.m.  Adopt a Golden Knoxville is an all-volunteer Golden Retriever rescue whose mission it is to find safe, loving, and permanent homes for the dogs that come into their care.   Meet the loveable dogs in the store and learn how you can help.

The 22nd Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week kicks off this Saturday, January 7th.  It will be a great week to get outside and explore the wild Smoky Mountain wilderness. There will be a full schedule of outdoor recreational activities that will unite visitors with the rustic beauty of nature in the Smokies.

The Tennessee Theatre is opening its doors during Knoxville’s First Friday celebration on January 6th, from 5p.m. until 9 p.m., to celebrate the atmosphere and culture of downtown and the role the Tennessee Theatre plays in its revitalization

With many of our neighbors being unemployed or underemployed and winter on the horizon, there’s even more need to share the warmth and help others to fend off the cold. The Mast General Store is hosting its seventh annual Share the Warmth coat, sweater and blanket collection campaign from now until November 30th.

What if you had to wait two days to eat? Mast General Store, Merrell Footwear, and the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee are partnering to provide children in the Knoxville area with weekend food, and you can help.  For each pair of Merrell shoes purchased at Mast Store October 1st through 16th, Merrell will fill a pack with food to feed a child for a weekend.

Mast General Store in Knoxville is celebrating Friends Day in honor of Friends of the Smokies on Saturday, September 17^th. Ten percent of Knoxville’s Mast General Store sales on Friends Day will go to this invaluable organization that’s helped protect the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in significant, tangible ways.

Stephen Lyn Bales is nature historian and senior naturalist at Ijams Nature Center in South Knoxville. A Gatlinburg native, he has been writing and speaking about the Tennessee Valley and Great Smokies for decades. Lyn is the author of two books: Ghost Birds and Natural Histories which are both published by UT Press.

Union County Deputy Candy Stooksbury and the Knoxville Police Department’s “Bloodhound Unit” visit the Knoxville Mast General Store on Saturday, September 10^th from noon until 2 p.m. This volunteer-run Search and Rescue unit helps find missing civilians like lost hikers, children, and Alzheimer’s patients.

It’s that time of year again to show your Volunteer pride as the University of Tennessee takes the field for another exciting season of college football. The first game of the fall is on Saturday, September 3^rd when the Tennessee Vols host the Montana Grizzlies at six in the evening for a televised game. Knoxville will pulsate with eager fans who’ve waited nine long months to see their beloved athletes prove their mettle on the field at Neyland Stadium.
