Celebrating the 65th Annual North Carolina Apple Festival

Celebrating the 65th Annual

North Carolina Apple Festival

“The greatest service which can be rendered any country is to add a useful plant to its culture.” - Thomas Jefferson

The North Carolina Apple Festival is celebrating its 65th anniversary this Thursday through Sunday, September 2nd through 5th. This sweet seasonal Western North Carolina family tradition is celebrated by 60,000 folks annually. Harvesting apples has been an important part of Henderson County’s heritage and culture since the mid 1700s. North Carolina is the 7th largest apple-producing state in the nation and Henderson County grows an impressive 65% of all apples in the state! In honor of such an important and beloved fruit, Hendersonville throws a four day celebration featuring local arts and crafts, delicious festival food, freshly picked apples, free entertainment, and the spectacular King Apple Parade held on Labor Day at 2:30 p.m. starting on Main Street. Refresh yourself with a slice of local apple pie, apple cake, or apple buttered bread and a nice chilled glass of apple cider to enjoy along the parade route.

The Hendersonville Mast Store is very excited for this year’s festival and has picked a bushel of great deals for you to take home. Don’t forget to grab a new pair of kicks to show off at the King Apple Parade. You’ll find shoes from Clarks, Chaco, and Dansko (to name a select few) at 40% off retail prices. In fact, we’ll have over 1,300 pairs of shoes on sale this year! Men’s and women’s fashion is featuring many clothing items on sale including brands like Columbia, Woolrich, and North River at 50% off. Remember to swing by the Mercantile Department and get ready for fall by taking advantage of 50% off savings on home décor and linens. If you have any questions about the Festival schedule or the Hendersonville area – please don’t hesitate asking one of our friendly Mast General Store associates who are always happy to assist. We look forward to celebrating one of the most beloved festivals in our state with you!
