This years White-Out / Family Weekend at Furman University is sure to be a celebratorious and action-packed three days. There are many opportunities to declare your Paladin pride and include your nearest and dearest in the festivities. Here are a few highlights for the big weekend:
Friday, September 23:
8 p.m. – White the Night Out Band Extravaganza - The spectacular Furman University Band offers a preview of their 2010 field show as well as crowd favorites in the McAlister Auditorium. Don’t forget to show off your new 2010 White-Out shirt at the concert. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and are available at the door.
Saturday, September 24:
8 a.m. - 5K Fun Run/Walk - The Young Alumni Council hosts this recreational fitness opportunity in which everyone is welcome to participate – that means mom, dad, and your younger siblings too! The scenic course around Furman’s campus will begin at the Cherrydale Alumni House. Participants will receive a Fun Run gift and prizes will be awarded. The registration fee is $20.
11:30 a.m. – Paladin Walk from Timmons Arena to Paladin Stadium - Line the parade route from Timmons Arena to Paladin Plaza to cheer the 2010 Furman Football Team as they enter Paladin Stadium led by head coach Bruce Fowler, the Furman Cheerleaders, and the Paladin Regiment Marching Band. Join the tradition as the Paladins “Polish the Diamond F” to get ready to take on Presbyterian College. Tailgate, celebrate, and don’t forget the big game is at 1pm.
8:15 p.m. – 28th Annual Student Talent Showcase - This is one of the most beloved Family Weekend traditions – don’t miss it! Bring the whole family to see Furman students exhibit their talents and compete for hundreds of dollars in prizes. Tickets are $6 per person and advance purchase is strongly recommended.
Don’t forget to pick up your White-Out shirt at Greenville’s Mast General Store at 111 North Main Street. You can also grab any other tailgating items you may have forgotten. Go Paladins!
