Celebrate Friends Day with the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation on Saturday, September 17th

 

Mast General Store in Boone, Asheville, Hendersonville, Waynesville, as well as the Original store and Annex in Valle Crucis are all celebrating Friends Day in honor of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation on Saturday, September 17th. Ten percent of the North Carolina Mast General Store’s sales on Friend’s Day will go to this invaluable organization that’s helped protect the Blue Ridge Parkway in significant, tangible ways.

The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is committed to preserving the past, enhancing the present, and safeguarding the future of America’s Favorite Journey. The Foundation is proud to serve and support the extraordinary environment that connects the spirit of countless people through a twisting ribbon of mountain road.

A Blue Ridge Parkway visitor from Phoenix, Arizona said, “Once you travel along the Blue Ridge Parkway you will never forget the blue tinged mountains, the smell of the deep woods, the sight of a red cardinal swooping across the trail, and the seclusion of the endless miles of canopied trees. You will never want to leave, but you will.  And you will return again and again… always to hike a new trail.”

The Foundation is a strong defender of the Parkway and funds many projects that enhance and protect the natural, cultural, historic, and recreational qualities of this American treasure. Foundation stewards, including contributors to 2010’s Friends Day, helped fund over a half million dollars toward Parkway projects last year. Some of those projects included the purchase of wildlife cameras, construction of the Blue Ridge Parkway Communications Center, emergency medical training and equipment for Parkway staff, and a free concert series at the Blue Ridge Parkway Music Center.

Representatives from the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation will join us at all of our North Carolina Mast General Stores on Saturday, September 17th. These wonderful folks will share information about projects the Foundation is currently undertaking to preserve the character of America’s favorite 469 mile stretch of road. Remember, for every dollar you spend on the 17th, 10% will go directly to the Foundation’s worthy projects. We look forward to seeing you there!
